New Gene Mutation Linked to Breast Cancer

Although my primary purpose for my writing is to encourage the soul, I also want the blog to be a resource for those facing a breast cancer diagnosis.  Occasionally, I hope to add links to articles that provide updated information about breast cancer research and statistics. {So let me know if you come across something interesting that I don’t see.}

One of the significant steps I was given the option of taking after my initial diagnosis was to undergo genetic testing.  I blogged about the experience of being tested for a mutation of the BRCA1 and BRAC2 gene here.  Apparently there is a new gene mutation that has been found to be linked to breast cancer, and it is called PALB2.  I wonder how this will change this step of genetic testing for those that are newly diagnosed?
